The Rapid Response Unit partners are the first to know. When something breaks, you get the heads up and the tools you need to respond quickly. We’ll monitor for the media moments; you bring the issue area expertise and a readiness to move quickly with partners.

Who We’re Looking For:

We’re building a group of communications leads from across our partner organizations who can move quickly when it counts. You don’t need a large team or a big budget, just the ability to get something out and the willingness to move alongside other partners.

You’re a strong candidate if you bring:

  • Communications responsibility: You handle communications for your organization
  • Shared values: You’re committed to racial health equity and open to using research-tested, values and needs-based messaging that advances our collective narrative.
  • Readiness to move: You can respond within a news cycle when a moment calls for it, and you know your organization’s channels well enough to act fast.
  • Collaborative instinct: You see the value in responding together and the same message showing up in more places, from more trusted voices.

What We Expect from Unit Partners:

Joining the Rapid Response Unit means being part of a working group. Partners commit to:

  • Being reachable when a moment breaks, and deciding quickly whether to engage
  • Using the shared messaging and frameworks on your own channels
  • Participating in working sessions and briefings on live and developing moments
  • Keeping your contact information current so alerts reach the right person

How to Join:

Complete the interest form to tell us about your organization, the channels you manage and how your team makes decisions. The Thruline for Health Equity team will follow up with you.
